The power of STOP

Do you ever catch yourself doing this?

You are not able to make it to the gym and then start feeling like oh well, why bother. I fell off the plan anyway. Then you proceed with eating the wrong foods and won't even try to make time for moving your body. The next day may become even more challenging and by day 3 you give up.

Sabotaging the self is something we are all familiar with.

I started thinking about where this comes from and came to the conclusion that the source is shame. We become ashamed of ourselves for not being able to accomplish what we planned. We loose faith in ourselves and look for comfort in all the wrong places. If only we could STOP the negative thoughts in their tracks, all this could be prevented.

I challenge you to say STOP out loud when you notice these thoughts. Hear your own voice, feel your power when you say the word STOP. In your heart and mind you know you are capable so replace sabotage with encouragement. Tell yourself -you got this! - and come up with a plan for the day to stay on track.

It is so important to know that in every day there are a myriad of opportunities to get after your endeavor. If you understand this concept, you will become mindful of your body and its needs throughout the day.

We are busier than ever these days, traffic is crazy, family and work demands are increasing and a lot of us are single parents. It is perfectly normal to have days when you just can not make it to the gym.

So those are your days when you do not take the elevator, you walk around as much as possible, you use the standing desk at work, you choose better foods so you can keep the balance of calories ingested versus calories used and voila-your progress continues!

Allow life to happen and allow movement and nutrition to become a part of it every day. When one day is finished, allow the next one to be different. If you understand that it is not possible to achieve the same exact output every single day, you will become flexible and light in your heart. You will actually love working out and eating right. It will no longer be that daunting task that hangs over your head. It will become the simple, loving act of self care.

Get out there and move and thrive!
